Please join the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship and the Hillel at Georgia Tech for a talk from Avishay Braverman, Former President of Ben-Gurion University and Former Member of the Knesset.

 

Professor Avishay Braverman, an Israeli political leader, highly successful university president and internationally-recognized economist, offers unique and inspiring perspectives on sustainable economic development and social justice, Israel’s economic relations with its neighbors, effective regional and water resource development, the direction of the State of Israel and the Jewish People, and vision, leadership and team building. He served as the Israeli Cabinet Minister and Chairman of Parliamentary Economic Affairs and Finance Committees, President of Ben-Gurion University, and Senior Economist and Chief of World Bank Agricultural Development Policy.

 

He has also received international recognition for leadership and social justice along with many other awards. Professor Braverman is a winner of numerous prizes and honorary degrees, including Commander of the French Order of Academic Palms, Doctor of Humane Letters for contributions to the State of Israel and the Jewish people from the Jewish Theological Seminary, Honorary Doctorate degree from Rand Afrikaans University, Quality in Government Prize in the State of Israel, Ben-Gurion Prize, Annual Rotary International Prize, and Man of the Year from Lions Club International. He has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of several of Israel’s largest corporations, including Israel Corporation, IDB Development Corporation, Machteshim Agan (now Adama), and the Dead Sea Works. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and has served on many professional associations and public forums, including the Israeli-American High-Tech Commission. He is the co-author and editor of several books and has written many articles on economic and political subjects.

 

He was born in Israel and served as a Lieutenant in the Israeli Defense Forces. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Tel Aviv University and Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University. 

 

Braverman will speak at Georgia Tech's IMPACT Speaker Series on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Since 2002, the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership." The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit leaders.The lecture series is sponsored by the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship and Hillel at Georgia Tech

The series is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
