Tutoring at the Communication CenterFor night owls looking for last-minute help before final projects and exams, the Communication Center will hold its first-ever Midnight Tutoring event on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
The Center will be open that evening from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and provide coffee and snacks to fuel students’ study sessions. Students can bring in work from within or outside of their classes, as long as it’s related to writing or communication. The Center is located in Suite 447 Clough Commons.
“We expect students mostly will be looking for help with final portfolios and end-of-term writing projects, but there’s no limit on what kind of writing work they can bring in,” said Peter Fontaine, associate director of the Center. Anyone is welcome to attend this event, including graduate students.
This event is the perfect opportunity for students to get one-on-one support during a time when they are most productive. The Communication Center is staffed with trained, professional tutors who are available to help students with everything from multimodal academic projects to professional resumes. The tutors work to help Tech students become better writers, speakers, and communicators. The Center will have 10 tutors on staff during the event.
“Students that might have been unable to get into the Center previously now have an additional opportunity for help, with no need to schedule an appointment,” Fontaine said.
For those unable to attend, the Communication Center will continue to have normal hours of operation throughout the week. It also hosts special workshops and events for graduate students, provides resources for poster printing and video capture equipment, and oversees presentation rehearsal room reservations.
The Center’s mission is to “promote excellence in written, oral, visual, electronic, and nonverbal (WOVEN) communication.” Its work enables members of the Georgia Tech community to have greater success in their academic and workplace careers as well as in their civic and community lives.
