If you’re ready for the holiday season, this week will not disappoint.
Attend a tree lighting, listen to an orchestra performance, or grab a cup of hot cocoa to begin celebrating what some say is the most wonderful time of the year.
International Education Week kicks off Monday. Stop by Tech Walkway from 9 to 11 a.m. for a cup of hot chocolate with Buzz, and don’t forget to grab your “passport,” which you can get stamped as you attend the week’s events. Visit the link above for a full list of activities.
The Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra presents its third annual Romantic Masters concert featuring music by Antonin Dvorak. The orchestra will be accompanied by guest conductor, Dr. Jungho Kim, and soloist, Ishmail Akbar, as they present the Cello Concerto with two Slavonic dances and Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”.
The Women’s Resource Center and Women in Engineering have partnered to present a series of Coffee Talks for undergraduate and graduate women majoring in science, technology, engineering, and math fields. As always, coffee, tea, and dessert will be provided.
The "Explore!" series consists of nine workshops dedicated to the art and science of paper. Feel free to attend one or all sessions, depending on what your schedule allows. The fee is $8 per class. Register by calling 404-894-5726 or emailing virignia.howell@rbi.gatech.edu.
Come check out one of Georgia Tech’s most popular a cappella groups, the Sympathetic Vibrations. They will be joining UGA Noteworthy for a night of amazing music. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.
Cheer on the Jackets as the take on the University of Virginia at Bobby Dodd. This game is dedicated as Senior Day and will include a toy drive. New, unwrapped toys will be collected at the enterance of the football stadium, or they may be dropped off at the Georgia Tech Athletic Association during business hours. These toys will be donated to Atlanta Children’s Shelter.
Ring in the holiday season by attending the 69th Annual Great Tree Lighting Ceremony at Macy’s Lenox Square Mall. This event will feature performances from Aloe Blacc, Craig Campbell, Michelle Williams, and the Macy’s All-Star Choir. If you are unable to attend, tune in to the live telecast on WSB at 7 p.m.
