Monday

Festival Reimagine Rio: The Intersection of Performance, Innovation, Leadership, Development, and Film

  • When: 4 – 5:30 p.m.
  • Where: Clary Theatre, Bill Moore Student Success Center

This public lecture features Kirk Bowman, associate chair and Jon Wilcox Term Professor of Soccer and Global Politics and co-founder and director of the international non-governmental organization, Rise Up and Care. Bowman co-produced five feature documentary films in Brazil with more than 450 screenings in Rio de Janeiro in August, preceding the Rio Olympic Games. This lecture discusses the production process, as well as his efforts to promote community-supported high performance activities as modes of development for the youth of Rio.

Tuesday

Veterans Day Cards

  • When: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Where: Student Center Commons

The Student Government Association’s Community Relations Committee will have a table for students to create cards for veterans in preparation for Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11. Come out to show appreciation for Georgia Tech Veterans.

Election Watch Parties

Share the experience of waching the election for the 45th U.S. president at either the Ferst Center or in Tech Rec at the Student Center.

Wednesday

Georgia Tech International Ambassadors Night Market

  • When: 6:30 – 9 p.m.
  • Where: Kessler Campanile

This Night Market is an event to celebrate culture from around the world with food, performances, music, and giveaways. Tickets are $4.12 and can be purchased here.

Thursday

Finding Beauty in a Broken World

  • When: 6 – 9 p.m.
  • Where: Georgia Tech Catholic Center

Matt Fradd, Catholic apologist and speaker, will visit the Catholic Center for three nights. The event is free and open to all, regardless of religious affiliation. Each night will feature a free dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a talk and social activities.

Friday

Veterans Day Run

  • When: 6:30 a.m.
  • Where: Callaway Plaza

The ROTC Program hosts a morning run around the campus Pi Mile course in honor of Veterans Day. All are invited to join.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

  • When: Noon – 12:45 p.m.
  • Where: Flag Circle (outside Ferst Center for the Arts)

Eagles at Georgia Tech host a flag retirement to properly retire worn American flags, and in the process honor veterans who have served the U.S. 

China Care Cure Your Cravings

  • When: 6 – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Klaus Advanced Computing Building

The China Care Club is hosting its annual Cure Your Cravings event. Enjoy Chinese cuisine and entertainment from a variety of Tech-based performers including FSA, Buzzbeats, and Tekstyles. There will also be a chance to win raffles and purchase Chinatown Shop items. Tickets can be preordered for $5 or purchased for $7 at the door.

Saturday

Student Center Programs Council Presents Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers

  • When: 7:30 – 10 p.m.
  • Where: Philips Arena

The Student Center Programs Council is taking students to see the Atlanta Hawks take on the Philadelphia 76ers. Tickets are $15 and include a Hawks T-shirt, shuttle ride to Philips Arena, and admission to the game. Purchase tickets here.

Sunday

Warrior Run

  • Where: Harrison Square
  • When: 9:45 a.m. – noon

Pi Kappa Alpha and Kappa Alpha Theta host the Warrior Run 5K to support the Wounded Warriors Project. This event will test participants’ strength and endurance as they run through 14 different obstacles. Register here. All levels are welcome and runners receive a T-shirt.
