CHECK YOUR CREDIT BEFORE APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID

CREDIT CHECKS before applying for financial aid.  You should always check your credit reports before applying for a loan. Identity theft is a serious problem, and you don’t want your plans to be foiled because someone has been using your name and social security number to open up accounts in your name and possibly racking up debt in your name as well.

The Federal Trade Commission provides information about credit reports.

www.annualcreditreport.com is the only authorized and legally mandated free annual credit report program.  Other sites that claim to be free or to monitor your credit are not authorized by the U.S. government and often are not free.
