Full Summary: Each year, the trans community and its allies commemorate Transgender Day of Remembrance to honor the memory of lives lost to transphobic violence. This year, the LGBTQIA Resource Center will participate by hosting an interactive, self-guided vigil and workshop that includes a memorial, information about the trans community in general and at Georgia Tech, and opportunities to participate in trans activism and allyship. Drop in anytime between 11am and 1pm. Refreshments provided.
trans day of remembranceTrans Day of Remembrance commemorates and honors transgender people who have lost their lives to violence throughout the past year. So far in 2016, 23 transgender people have been murdered in the U.S. - that we know of - and the majority of these are trans women of color.
This year, the LGBTQIA Resource Center will be hosting a special walk-through space for all members of the Georgia Tech community. Drop by room 320 in the Student Center any time between 11am and 1pm on Friday, 18th November to:
