There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Dr. Annalisa Bracco (GA Tech) and her students from the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech; Sabrina Grossman, Marion Usselman, and Will Jimerson from CEISMC; and Emily Davenport (ECOGIG outreach staff) brought the Ocean Discovery Zone exhibit booth to 7th grade students at Cowan Road Middle School, in Griffin, GA on Thursday October 20th, 2016.
They engaged with students using teaching modules developed in collaboration with CEISMC's AMP-IT-UP project. The modules' content are based on ECOGIG research, specifically the impacts of hydrocarbons on deepwater ecosystems (corals in particular).
The ECOGIG Ocean Discovery Zone is an exhibit booth and hands-on activity station designed to give non-scientists of all ages access to information about the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Gulf of Mexico and the importance of healthy ocean ecosystems.
