Get ready for a spooky day and active week, Jackets.

Whether you’re a Halloween enthusiast or skeptic, several campus events today will bring out your inner spirit. Later in the week, unwind with meditation and poetry.

Monday - Halloween

Halloween Photo Contest

  • When: All day
  • Where: Student Center

Send a photo of yourself dressed up as a feminist or a woman you admire to womens.center@gatech.edu. The best costume will win a prize. There will also be a photo booth at the Student Center if you’d like to take the picture on location.

Alice in Horrorland

  • When: 7 – 9 p.m.
  • Where: Student Center, 3rd Floor

Come out to the Student Center Programs Council’s Alice in Horrorland event for an opportunity to show off your Halloween costume, decorate tea cups, and play mini golf. Plus, there will be free candy! You’re never too old to trick-or-treat.

Wreckless Presents: The Mane Event featuring Judah and the Lion

  • When: 8 – 11 p.m.
  • Where: Instructional Center Lawn

Join the Wreckless organization on Halloween for night of live music. One of Nashville’s most “genre-bending” bands, Judah and the Lion, will play on the Instructional Center lawn. Tickets are $8.

Sigma Nu Halloween Haunted House

  • When: 9 – 11:45 p.m.
  • Where: Sigma Nu Fraternity

Get in the spooky spirit and check out Alpha Phi and Sigma Nu’s haunted house. Entry is $5 and proceeds go to St. Jude and the Alpha Phi Foundation as part of Sigma Nu’s Helping Hand Initiative and Alpha Phi Foundation’s heart health and research program.

GT History Con

  • When: 4 - 6 p.m.
  • Behind the Old Civil Engineering Building

The History and Soicology Club is hosting Tech's first history-themed costume party. Come out for free food and drinks. The best costumes will receive prizes.

Veggie Jackets Lunch ‘N’ Learn

  • When: 11 a.m. – noon
  • Where: Klaus Advanced Computing Building, Room 1443

Enjoy free vegan food and learn about one of Georgia Tech’s newest organizations, Veggie Jackets. Veggie Jackets is an organization dedicated to providing a community where vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike feel welcome to express themselves in a respectful manner.

Wednesday

Wednesday Meditation Class

  • When: 6 – 7 p.m.
  • Where: D.M. Smith, Room 011

Learn more about Heartfulness meditation at this free class. No previous experience is necessary. This event is recurring and will take place on Wednesdays until Dec. 14.

Thursday

The McEver Poetry Reading

  • When: 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Where: Kress Auditorium at the Robert C. Williams Museum of Paper Making
  • 500 Tenth St NW, Atlanta, GA

Poetry at Tech began in 2002 and has evolved into one of the premier showcases of poetry in the Southeast. The McEver Poetry Reading features James May, Anya Silver, and Bruce McEver. This event is open to the public with no tickets or reservations required.

Friday

DramaTech presents The Man of La Mancha

  • When: 8 – 10 p.m.
  • Where: DramaTech Theatre

In this classic musical, Miguel Cervantes finds himself locked in a dungeon fighting for all of his belongings including his prized manuscript. This show explores imagination, love, and impossible dreams. Reserve tickets here.
