No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. At its Oct. 12 meeting, the Board of Regents named a new chancellor of the University System of Georgia (USG) and new president of a neighboring institution.

The Board named Steve Wrigley as chancellor of the USG. Wrigley has served as interim chancellor since August, succeeding Hank Huckaby. The Board also approved the appointment of Sam Olens as president of Kennesaw State University.

For Georgia Tech, the Board approved the establishment of a new Ph.D. program in Ocean Science and Engineering. The program will merge physical or biological oceanography and applied ocean sciences and work toward finding solutions for the sustainable development of ocean resources.

The Board also authorized an upcoming construction project for the College of Computing Robotics Interdisciplinary Research Neighborhood. The project will renew and transform approximately 14,000 square feet of existing laboratory and common space in the lower level of the College of Computing Building. The area will house new lab space, as well as facilities to serve the campus community in fabrication and 3-D printing related specifically to robotics. The project will next proceed to design and construction.
