With campus construction causing congestion at peak hours, the Georgia Tech Police Department (GTPD) is providing patrols and working with the City of Atlanta to ease the pain at high traffic times of day.
Beginning today, Tech Parkway's northbound travel lane will now be open from North Avenue to the merge with Northside Drive during the afternoon commute. This will alleviate congestion along campus streets and Marietta Street during rush hour. The northbound travel lane will continue to be closed from Means Street to the merge with Northside Drive all other hours. Traffic patterns are subject to change as the City of Atlanta also addresses a water leak at the intersection of Tech Parkway and Northside Drive.
Construction is also still in progress along Ferst Drive from Hemphill Avenue to State Street.
Tech police are working five campus intersections during high traffic times of day: Ferst Drive and State Street; Ferst Drive and Hemphill Avenue; Ferst Drive and Regents Drive; Tech Parkway and Regents Drive; and Marietta Street and Means Street.
GTPD asks drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to proceed with caution around campus, especially during high traffic times and in construction areas.
