Primarily a cratered surface, the dwarf planet Ceres nevertheless has unusual features. The best known are unusual bright spots and a lone mountain. Less well-known are the landslides, which have been modifying Ceres's surface across all latitudes and displaying myriad morphologies.
Heather Chilton is a Ph.D. student working under the supervision of Britney Schmidt in Georgia Tech's School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. She will discuss findings from studies of the main types of landslides on Ceres and the role of ground ice in their formation.
ABOUT THE EVENT
This event is a production of the Atlanta Science Tavern. It is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come first-serve basis. Reservations are not required. Attendees gather for dinner at 7:00 pm. The evening's presentation gets underway at around 7:45 pm.
