Institute Diversity is proud to announce that Georgia Tech received the 2016 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity. For the third consecutive year, Georgia Tech is being recognized for its outstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“We are honored to receive the HEED Award once again,” said Archie Ervin, vice president for Institute Diversity and president of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. “It has been a landmark year for the Institute, from the most diverse freshman class in Georgia Tech’s history to the launch of the Black Student Experience Task Force and Gender Equity Initiatives. But there is still more work to do.”

As a recipient of the HEED Award, Georgia Tech will be featured — along with 82 other award winners — in the November 2016 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

“The HEED Award process consists of a comprehensive and rigorous application that includes questions relating to the recruitment and retention of students and employees, leadership support for diversity, and other aspects of campus diversity and inclusion. We take a holistic approach to reviewing each application in deciding who will be named a HEED Award recipient. Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where diversity and inclusion are woven into the work being accomplished every day across their campus,” said Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity.
