LMC chair Richard Utz delivered a keynote address on "The Return to Medievalism and the Future of Medieval Studies," at the annual meeting of German-speaking university professors of English (Anglistentag) at the University of Hamburg, Germany, on September 23, 2016.
The keynote was accompanied by a series of four conference sections, all negotiating various aspects of "Engaging with the Past: Reinventing the Middle Ages, organized by Eva von Contzen (University of Freiburg, Germany), Annette Kern-Stähler, and Nicole Nyffenegger (University of Berne, Switzerland).
Richard Utz serves as a chair and professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology, is a scholar of medievalism studies, and currently serves as President of the International Society for the Study of Medievalism and editor of its review journal, Medievally Speaking, and Proceedings, The Year’s Work in Medievalism.
