Do you love taking camera phone photos and want to move to next level with your photography? Have you taken the plunge and purchased a “pro-sumer” or professional-grade camera, but feel a bit lost? Have you ever borrowed one of the Library’s digital cameras and felt that you were not taking full advantage of all the features it offered? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, this late-night “Vampire” course is built for you.
Using the Library’s cameras as examples, attendees will learn the ins and outs of the modern Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera, the standard format for hobbyists and professional photographers around world. Beginning with a brief introduction to the science of “manual” photography, we will then explore all those screens, buttons, and dials, leaving you much more familiar and comfortable with the camera as a tool. We will then transition to learning how the camera’s capabilities apply to actual photo-taking.
Basic skills like Composition, Exposure, and Selective Focus will be explained and demonstrated, leaving attendees well equipped to produce quality photos suitable for any number of applications, from class projects and campus organizations, to personal family photos.
