Over 500 people attended the 2010 Women in Engineering Awards Banquet held at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center on March 18th. Additionally, Ken Gall, PhD, received a Faculty Excellence Award from the School of Material Science and Engineering.

Over 500 people attended the 2010 Women in Engineering Awards Banquet held at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center on March 18th. One hundred and twenty scholarships, totaling over $140,000 were awarded to deserving female undergraduate engineering students. In the midst of this an economic downturn, the amount of scholarships surprisingly increased from $120,000 in 2009 to over $140,000 this year.

Faculty Excellence and Outstanding Mentor Awards
In addition to the scholarships, awards were given for faculty excellence and outstanding mentoring.

The recipients of the Faculty Excellence Awards:

Ken Gall from the School of Material Science and Engineering, Sue Ann Bidstrup Allen from the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Ali Adibi from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
