There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. In Candler Park, cars whiz by a giant wooden cut-out of President-elect Barack Obama, who dominates a leafy front yard with his passionate "Yes We Can" mantra. In Inman Park, a childlike hand-painted sign converts the letters in Obama's name into a sunflower, a house and a rocket ship. . . .GEORGIA TECH industrial design graduate student Shelton Davis couldn't afford to donate money to the Obama campaign. Instead, he salvaged bits of wood and cardboard, purchased the cheapest spray paint he could find, and created stencils of easy-to-duplicate Obama images. "From an artistic standpoint, there was something new and different to play with that's made people very excited," he said.
