The European Union Center of Excellence at Georgia Tech presents the Institutional and Cultural Transformations of the EU Speaker Series with Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary Béla Szombati discussing, "Hungary's Role in the European Union and the Transatlantic Relationship".

Please join us for our series of discussions on the Institutional and Cultural Transformations of the EU: From 6 to 27 Member States.

Mr. Szombati received his credentials as Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary in Washington D.C. in November 2009. In his previous appointments, he served as Secretary of the Hungarian Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam; Secretary of Cultural Affairs in the Hungarian Embassy in Washington D.C.; and Ambassador of Hungary both in Paris, France (1994 to 1999) and in London, United Kingdom (2002 to 2006). In addition to his prestigious assignments abroad, Ambassador Szombati's professional resume includes the posts of Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Hungary, Deputy Head of the State Secretariat for European Integration, and Head of Strategic Planning and Information Management Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Szombati earned his degrees from the London University and Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest.
