There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. In the age of Internet ascendancy, a new study holds that television continues to be at least as transformative a force as the 'Net in many parts of the world. But Michael Best, assistant professor in Interactive Computing, cautions against some of the study's interpretations, such as its characterization of the show "Baywatch" as "an everyday tale of lifesaving folk."
