Fumin Zhang has been named a recipient of a 2010 Lockheed Inspirational Young Faculty Award. He and other Georgia Tech recipients of Lockheed Faculty Awards will be honored at a ceremony held at Lockheed Martin Aero in Marietta.
An assistant professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering based at the Georgia Tech-Savannah campus, Dr. Zhang is being honored for his educational contributions that encourage K-12 and present university students to reach for their dreams and excel.
Dr. Zhang is the co-founder of the Robotics Teaching and Out-Reach Lab (RoToR), which supports the undergraduate course, Introduction to Automation and Robotics. The RoToR lab is also heavily used in outreach activities such as the FIRST LEGO League and Vex robotics competitions for middle school and high school students, and it is an Explorer Post for the Boy Scouts of America.
