ASMEA logoThe Ninth Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa (ASMEA) will take place on October 27 - October 29, 2016 at the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C. This will be a unique gathering of scholars and practitioners and this year's event is titled, "Taking the Long View: Assessing Change in the Middle East and Africa."

In addition, over 140 papers will be presented covering the length and breadth of the Middle East and Africa.
The keynote address, "The Pathology of Middle Eastern Studies" will be delivered by Prof. Martin Kramer, President of Shalem College and author of Ivory Towers on Sand. H.E. Ambassador Rachad Bouhlal, from the Embassy of Morocco, has been invited to deliver remarks at the opening session. There will be a professional networking reception, film screenings, and an extensive book display with the latest titles on the Middle East and Africa. But perhaps most importantly, ample opportunities for attendees to interact with colleagues from around the globe, engage in lively discourse, and expand their body of knowledge on pertinent topics affecting the regions.
