The School of Computer Science begins the fall semester with two new research scientists and a new tenure-track professor. New and promoted faculty members include:

  • Ada Gavrilovska (pictured at right, top), a former SCS research scientist and Ph.D. student of Professor Karsten Schwan, starts her tenure-track professorship in the SCS in August, serving as an associate professor.
  • Georgia Tech alumna Maria Konte joins the SCS as a research scientist, working with Professors Wenke Lee and Roberto Perdisci in the Institute for Information Security and Privacy (IISP). Prior to Georgia Tech, she served stints at Damballa Labs and Verisign Labs. Konte earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and was advised by Professor Nick Feamster.
  • Aibek Museav, a recent SCS Ph.D. graduate, returns to the school as a research scientist working with Professors Calton Pu and Alex Orso.

“It is always fulfilling to have former students join us on the faculty,” says Lance Fortnow, chair of the School of Computer Science. “This shows how much our graduates love this school and want to contribute to its growth.”
