Fakhri Haghani provides circulation and information service to faculty and students in the Architecture Library at Georgia Tech. She also is responsible for providing RAPID ILL (interlibrary loan) and processing serials. Previously, she coordinated, oversaw, and developed the operation of the visual resources collection (more than 70,000 slides) for the Architecture Library and participated in the production of an image database initiated by the College of Architecture’s multi-media project.
Haghani has an advanced degree in Art History from Facolta di Magistero, at University of Rome (Sapienza) in Italy, a Masters degree in Women’s Studies, and a Ph.D. in History from Georgia State University in Atlanta. She has taught several courses on U.S. History, World History, Women’s Studies, and the Middle East History and Culture at Georgia State University, Atlanta University Center, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She was born and raised in Iran, and is proficient in Farsi, Arabic, and Italian.
Haghani is the recipient of several research and professional awards, including the 1995 Southeast Women's Studies Association Student Grant, the 1998 Visual Resources Association Luraine Tansey Travel Award, and the 2005 field research funds by the American Research Center in Egypt and the Council of American Overseas Research Center. She has published several articles in al-Raida, The Quarterly Journal Published by the Institute of Women’s Studies in the Arab World, The Feminist School, and The Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Cultures.
