No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. After careful consideration by a special Grant Selection Committee appointed by the president of the company, Micromeritics' grant award winner for the second quarter of 2007 has been selected. An AutoChem II 2920 Catalyst Characterization System has been awarded to the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Christopher Jones, Principal Investigator, "The AutoChem II system will directly enable new research approaches in 21 projects covering four different research groups. The instrument will play a central role in my catalysis and adsorptive separation research program." Dr. Jones is a primary member of the Strategic Energy Institute at Georgia Tech, where he directs a research effort in catalysis, adsorption, and materials synthesis.

According to Preston Hendrix, Micromeritics' president, "This program is designed to promote and advance the acquisition and use of particle characterization instrumentation not generally available through other means to non-profit universities and institutions. We are very proud and excited to present this award in an ongoing grant program to support important research."

Micromeritics' Instrument Grant Program is intended to provide particle characterization instruments to non-profit universities and research organizations for the purpose of fostering and supporting meritorious research projects. A maximum of one instrument/integrated system will be awarded per calendar quarter. Deadline dates for the next two grants are:
1) Application deadline 9/30/07; Grant decision prior to 12/31/07
2) Application deadline 12/31/07; Grant decision prior to 3/31/08

Applications may be submitted at any time in accordance with the application instructions and will remain active for a period of one year from the date of submission.
