No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. IEN’s Education and Outreach director, Dr. Nancy Healy, was an invite speaker at South Africa’s Department of Science and Technology - National Research Foundation’s Nanotechnology Symposium that took place at the CSIR Convention Center June 27 – 28, 2016.
Dr. Healy presented a talk entitled: Comprehensive Nanoscience Education & Outreach Programs in the US (NNIN & NNCI) – Possibilities for South African Programs. After the conference she had exploratory meetings with South African government representatives from several federal agencies. The focus of the discussions was on future possible collaborations with these agencies and universities in South Africa. Her host was Dr. Mthuthuzeli Zamxaka head of the Nanotechnology Public Engagement Programme at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA).
