There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. President’s Undergraduate Research Awards (PURA)
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program competitively funds individual requests by a student/faculty teams for funds to be used to support undergraduate student involvement in faculty research. The main emphases of the awards will be for student salaries and travel expenses for undergraduates to attend professional meetings to give presentations. Students should contact individual faculty members for undergraduate research projects. Either faculty or students can initiate projects but the proposal must be written by the student. A faculty/student team must apply by the deadline given below for the semester in which the funds are requested.
Students wishing to work at GTRI may also apply with a Research Scientist. (NOTE: Many GTRI labs may require U.S. citizenship). Students should be in good academic standing when they apply.
Students may apply for $1500 (max) salary awards or $1000 (max) travel awards. Students are eligible for only one successful salary award per academic year, but may apply for travel awards within the same academic year.
PURA is offered every semester. When applying for PURA, An electronic submission is required followed by an email from the faculty mentor as outlined in the instructions. An application is considered complete once both an application and an email from the faculty mentor has been received. Application deadlines are listed below.
Deadlines :
Spring 2010 - Complete applications are due October 19, 2009.
Summer 2010 - Complete applications are due March 1, 2010.
Fall 2010 - Complete applications are due May 17, 2010.
