As part of Oprah's continuing "No-Phone Zone" campaign [www.Oprah.com/NoPhoneZone], she is dedicating her April 30 show to raising awareness on the topic of distracted driving.  The show is holding viewing rallies in five cities around the country on this date, including Atlanta at Georgia Tech's Ferst Center for the Arts.  During the event, the Oprah show will cut to a live feed of the crowd in Atlanta at the Ferst Center on Georgia Tech’s campus.  Those in attendance may appear on camera during a live episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Admission is free.  Students, faculty, staff, and the general public are invited to attend.

Holly Robinson Peete, special correspondent for “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and Oprah Radio host, will moderate the event and interview attendees.

In 2008, nearly 6,000 people died in crashes involving a distracted driver, and more than half a million were injured.  Research from AutoVantage in 2008 shows 35 percent of Metro Atlanta  drivers admitted they talk every day on the cell phone while driving.
