There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Capital Planning and Space Management presents a campus open house for the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons Prototype Classroom, located in the Engineering Science and Mechanics Building.
Based on the SCALE-UP (Student-Centered Activities for Large Enrollment Undergraduate Programs) model developed at North Carolina State by Robert Beichner, the CULC Prototype Classroom is being used be used across multiple disciplines—including engineering, biology, modern languages and English—as well as by the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning.
The room contains several Innovative features, such as no "teaching wall," writing surfaces on all four walls, and three plasma screens mounted on two of the walls. Furniture arranges the students in three groups of nine, virtually linking each group to one of the screens.
The classroom is located in room G-8 of ESM.
Capital Planning and Space Management, CETL, the Office of Information Technology and Facilities sponsor the prototype classroom.
