June 2, 2016 ─ Poet and scholar Dan Veach made the first contribution to a new fund for the Atlanta Review, a Georgia Tech publication. The fund’s primary purpose is to establish a foundation for the journal's future. “The Atlanta Review is a 23-year-old literary journal that focuses on international poetry,” says Assistant Professor and the new Editor of the Review Karen Head.

Veach has been writing for over 40 years and is the founder and former editor of the Atlanta Review. In addition to these accomplishments, Veach is the author of Elephant Water as well as the recipient of the 2013 Georgia Author of the Year Award. His contributions to the study of poetry include Beowulf & Beyond, a translation of Anglo-Saxon poems, stories, spells, and riddles as well as Beowulf’s Barrow, a historical novel that occurs after the burial of the eponymous hero.

Veach presented his contribution to the Atlanta Review to Head as well as to Academic Professional and new managing editor of the journal J.C. Reilly and Richard Utz, professor and chair of the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. With the establishment of the fund, Veach’s contribution marks the turning of a new page for the Atlanta Review and the study of international poetry.
