A person with a travel history to Latin America was recently diagnosed with the Zika virus in Texas, according to the public health department in Harris County, which includes Houston. The patient experienced fever, rash, and joint pain and sought medical care.The mosquito-borne virus has seen a surge in Latin American countries in the past year, most recently turning up in Puerto Rico. At the same time, Brazil has also seen a significant increase in cases of microcephaly, but the link between Zika and microcephaly has not been confirmed.
