Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

Advancing Learning Through Evidence-Based STEM Teaching

Beginning June 1

This 8-week online course will provide future faculty in the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) with an introduction to “teaching as research”—the deliberate, systematic, and reflective use of research methods to develop and implement teaching practices that advance the learning experiences and outcomes of both students and teachers. Participants will learn about effective teaching strategies and the research that supports them, and they will learn how to collect, analyze, and act upon their own evidence of student learning.

This is an asynchronous on-line course; you complete modules each week at your convenience AND you can join our learning community to meet weekly to discuss course material.

Course dates: June 1 – July 29, 2016
Times: Course content is completed independently on your own schedule.

The optional learning community will meet weekly, alternating between Thursdays and Fridays each week. Participants can attend any subset of these meetings as their schedules allow.
Thursdays (June 2, June 16, June 30, July 14) from 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Fridays (June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22) from 10:30am to 12:00pm
All learning community meetings will be in Clough Commons, Room 323
