Any educator in the Griffin‐Spalding School District who is interested in inquiry based learning is invited to enroll in the Project Based Inquiry Learning course from June 1-30, 2016. Educators can work in cohort groups at your school to complete the coursework. We will have a one day optional face-to-face workshop on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. If you participate in the workshop, coursework will take approximately five hours a week during the month of June. (*if there is a conflict with this date, you will have the option to complete the course entirely online)
This 30 hour facilitated online course will support teachers in using project-based inquiry learning (PBIL), to enhance conceptual understanding, critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem solving. The course will cover several important topics in PBIL, including: standards-‐based design, formative and summative assessment, and development of science process skills along with science content knowledge. Participants will 1) complete a PBIL first-‐hand; 2) analyze PBIL curriculum and resources to develop design acumen; and 3) begin designing a PBIL unit for their classroom.
Course registration is available until May 25, 2016 at https://pe.gatech.edu/courses/discovering-project-based-inquiry-learning. The course is free for Griffin-Spalding School educators. Please contact Sabrina Grossman, course instructor, for the copon code.
