COPE Seminar Series - Dr. Salaneck

*********************************
There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Summary Sentence: A talk entitled "Electronic Structure of Hybrid Interfaces"

Full Summary: Dr. Willaim Salaneck, from the University of Linkoping in Sweden, will give a talk entitled: Electronic Structure of Hybrid Interfaces.

Electronic Structure of Hybrid Interfaces
William R. Salaneck
Department of Physics, IFM, Linkopings Universitet, S-581 83 Linkoping, Sweden

Conjugated polymers are currently used in organic molecular and polymer based electronics. The interface between the organic material (molecular or polymeric) and inorganic electrode materials controls a great deal of the interfacial charge transfer characteristics. In Linkoping, studies of energy level alignment (and molecular modification thereof) at hybrid interfaces have been carried out for many years. The characterization of the electronic structure of the interface between spin-coated polymer films and metallic substrates (the device fabrication mode), is often carried out using photoelectron spectroscopies. Recent work on charge transfer at hybrid interfaces, and also at subsequent organic-organic interfaces, carried out in Linkoping, will be presented. In addition, some rather preliminary results on the use of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) at hybrid interfaces will be included as a topic for discussion.
