Buying school supplies for kids can get expensive. Costs can sometimes run upwards of $100.00 per child, per school year! That’s why Georgia Tech Human Resources created “Buzzin’ Back to School” – its annual school supply drive by Georgia Tech families, for Georgia Tech families.
Kicking off on June 1, the campaign provides an opportunity for Georgia Tech employees to donate school supplies for colleagues who might not have financial resources to purchase them for their children.
Between June 1 and July 18, faculty and staff can donate any of the listed school supplies to their department/unit HR representative, or bring directly to HR at 500 Tech Parkway. Details can be found on the GTHR website: http://www.ohr.gatech.edu/buzzinbacktoschool.
Employees interested in applying for a backpack for their child(ren) in grades K-12 can do so at http://ohr.gatech.edu/buzzinbacktoschool by July 18.
Georgia Tech Human Resources has acquired 350 backpacks for this year’s drive, and a team of volunteers will fill them with the donated supplies. Should there be more requests than available supplies, GTHR will conduct a lottery to determine recipients. The lottery will be conducted and backpacks distributed near the end of July.
