There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

In light of a recent event, several CoC faculty members had raised questions about what kind of monitoring of GT owned machines is currently done and what policies are in place to address the challenges we face in balancing security and privacy in an academic environment. GTISC is pleased to host a discussion on this topic that will be led by John Mullin, GT CIO and Associate Vice Provost for Information Technology, and Herb Baines, Director of Information Security. This will take place at 11am on Tuesday, Sept 29, 2009. I hope many of you will be able to attend and participate in this discussion. We hope that the discussion will help us better understand the challenges that we face and future work that may help address them.
Please feel free to bring lunch. GTISC will supply cookies and water, soda etc.
