Full Summary:

Night of Music Encompassing Indian Classical to World Music featuring the Sarod, a versatile Indian Classical Instrument!

Aarohi, the organization that brought you Khayaal, presents “The Night of the Sarod”—a magical musical night that takes you on an unique journey encompassing the pure and serene beauty of Indian Classical Music to soul-stirring eclectic World Music. Both the performances of the night have in common the Sarod, a traditional yet highly versatile Indian Classical Acoustic Instrument that traces its roots to the Afghan Rabab. Sarod comes from the Persian word “Sarud” meaning melody and on this night we will witness the inherent beauty and versatility of this wonderful musical instrument. The opening act of the night is a popular world music ensemble "Gypsy at Heart" featuring Joe Leone on the Guitar, Souryadeep Bhattacharyya on the sarod, Jeremy Raj on the Oud and Rohit Bhat on the Tabla. The second performance is by a touring guest artist and well known international sarod player from India, Abhisek Lahiri. A two time Global Indian Music Awards nominee, Abhisek's skills on the sarod have won him rave reviews worldwide. On the percussion (Tabla) he will be accompanied by Subrata Bhattacharya.
