Shoufeng Lan has been named as a recipient of the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad.
A Ph.D. student in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Lan will be presented with this award at the Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas later this spring. He is advised by ECE Associate Professor Wenshan Cai.
This award encourages research excellence and recognizes top Chinese Ph.D. students across all fields of study throughout the world. Lan will be recognized for his work in electro-optics in nonlinear metamaterials, which has been published in high profile publications such as Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Nano Letters. At the end of 2015, he also received a Materials Research Society Graduate Silver Award for his research in this area.
