The Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship, a $10,000 academic award, is given
annually by Google to women studying computer science who show a
commitment to advancing women in technology. Three other CoC students
and one student in ISyE were finalists for the award, and each won $1,000.
The scholarship was founded by Google in 2003 to honor the work of Dr.
Anita Borg, a computer scientist who dedicated her professional career
to increasing the participation of women and other under-represented
minorities in the field of technology.
A total of 23 Anita Borg Scholarships scholarships were awarded in the U.S. this
year, while 33 students were finalists. With six winners and four finalists, Georgia Tech had more
recipients than any other university.
The award winners are:
