Ronald W. RousseauThe search committee for the newly created Executive Vice President for Research (EVPR) has announced three finalist candidates, each of whom will preside over a town hall–style meeting on campus later this month.
The finalists are Mark G. Allen, senior vice provost for Research and Innovation; Stephen E. Cross, vice president and director of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI); and Ronald W. Rousseau, chair of the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
The EVPR will oversee all research at Georgia Tech, from faculty-based projects to research conducted by GTRI and the Enterprise Innovation Institute. As chief research officer for the Institute, the EVPR will report directly to the president and will serve as a member of the president’s cabinet.
Research comprises nearly half of Georgia Tech’s annual budget. In his original announcement to campus, President Bud Peterson said the new position will lead to better cooperation and collaboration between the institutes, centers, and academic faculty with the research at GTRI.
Cross, who also serves as a professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and as an adjunct professor in the College of Computing, will present on Thursday, February 11, at 11 a.m. in room 1116E of the Klaus Advanced Computing Building.
Allen, Joseph M. Pettit Professor and Regents' Professor in Mircoelectronics and Microsystems in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will host a town hall Tuesday, February 16, at 11 a.m. in room 1116E of the Klaus Advanced Computing Building.
Rousseau, professor and Cecil J. “Pete” Silas Chair in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, will host a town hall Tuesday, February 23, at 11 a.m. in Room G011 of the Molecular Science and Engineering Building.
