The School of Architecture has one of the largest and most successful PhD research programs in the country led by faculty that are internationally recognized leaders in their respective fields. Godfried Augenbroe, Director of the High Performance Building Lab, received the Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA). The SimTigrate Lab, directed by Craig Zimring, was recently awarded over $1.2 million in research grants for healthcare and design research. John Peponis, who leads research at the School on Space Syntax and is one founding leaders in this field, was a keynote speaker at the 10th International Symposium on Space Syntax recently held in London. Chuck Eastman, director of the Digital Building Lab and one of the original developers of BIM technologies, participated in a special panel at the recent ACADIA conference, Pioneers of Design ComputationAt the recent eCAADe Annual Conference at the Vienna University of Technology, Thanos Economou, Director of the Shape Computation Lab, presented the keynote lecture on his ongoing research on Federal Courthouses. This group was very busy last semester!
