Sayeed Choudhury’s work with data curation is internationally-recognized. He will be speaking about the challenges that face computer scientists, librarians, and other information professionals when curating very large data sets (i.e. “Big Data”) and making this information useable and available on the web.
The Data Conservancy is one of two initial awards through the National Science Foundation's DataNet Program. The Data Conservancy shares a common vision that data curation is not an end, but rather a means to provide persistent access to a variety of scientific data for addressing grand challenge research problems.
About the speaker:
G. Sayeed Choudhury is the associate dean for Library Digital Programs and Hodson Director of the Digital Research and Curation Center at the Sheridan Libraries of Johns Hopkins University.
