Doug Lauer, MS IL 2002, was promoted to the role of executive vice president, Information Technology and Supply Chain, at Hagemeyer North America Inc. (HNA) in January 2008. In this new role, Lauer will oversee supply chain management (logistics and inventory management) in addition to his list of current responsibilities which includes information technology, Six Sigma, organizational development and the project management office (PMO).

"Doug's experience in the distribution and logistics industries as well as his proven leadership in national and global roles makes him an excellent choice for this new and challenging role,* says HNA CEO David Gabriel.

Lauer joined HNA as Chief Information Officer (CIO) in July, 2001. He spent two years as corporate CIO for Hagemeyer NV in The Netherlands, returning to the United States in March, 2004 to resume his duties as CIO for HNA. Prior to Hagemeyer, Lauer served as CIO and vice president, eBusiness, for Allied Holdings, a large international trucking and logistics company. Lauer also gained valuable experience working in both the third party logistics, and supply chain consulting industries at some top notch organizations including Exel Logistics, Cass Information Systems, and Coopers & Lybrand. In 1999, Lauer received the Georgia CIO of the Year award which recognizes CIOs from some of the State's most respected and top producing companies. In 2000, he received the IT Professional of the Year from Transport Technology Today.

As a member of EMIL's inaugural class in 2002, Lauer had the opportunity to participate in Georgia Tech's first 18-month executive masters program in international logistics. Of the experience he states "The biggest benefit of EMIL is network building, working with people in industries and countries one wouldn't normally deal with. It's given me the ability to learn from their experiences, expanding my knowledge and perspective to see situations through the eyes of other people from around the world. I don't know of any other way I could have achieved this.*

Lauer has a BS in Computer Information Systems from DeVry Institute of Technology and a MS in International Logistics from Georgia Tech. Additionally, he serves on Advisory Boards at Georgia Tech in Atlanta and at Trident Tech in Charleston, South Carolina where he currently resides.

Hagemeyer North America, Inc. is a multi-billion dollar distributor of products and services focusing on business-to-business markets in electrical materials, safety products, and industrial products and services throughout North America. With more than 300,000 SKUs, HNA offers one of the broadest ranges of Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) products and services in the wholesale industry. The company inventories leading brands such as Aearo, 3M, Brady, Cardiac Science, DuPont, Fluke, Norton, Philips, Rustoleum, Square D, and Stanley Proto.
