Alessandro Orso is a professor in the School of Computer Science in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his master’s degree in electrical engineering and his doctorate in computer science from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Orso has been at Georgia Tech since 2000. His area of research is software engineering, with emphasis on software testing and program analysis. His interests include the development of techniques and tools for improving software reliability, security, and trustworthiness, and the validation of such techniques on real-world systems. Orso has received funding for his research from  governmental agencies, such as DARPA and the National Science Foundation, and industry partners, such as Fujitsu Labs, Google, IBM, and Microsoft. He has served on the editorial board of ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology and on the Advisory Board of Reflective Corp; as program chair for ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering’s International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis (ACM-SIGSOFT ISSTA) 2010; program co-chairs for IEEE International Conference on Software Testing (IEEE ICST) 2013 and for the ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering’s Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engineering (ACM-SIGSOFT FSE) 2014, and will serve as program co-chair for ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering/IEEE International Conference on Software Engineering (ACM-SIGSOFT/IEEE ICSE) 2017. He has also served as a technical consultant to DARPA. Orso is a senior member of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society. He is affiliated with the Institute for Information Security & Privacy (IISP) and the Center for Experimental Research in Computer Systems at Georgia Tech (CERCS).
