Milena Mihail is an associate professor in the School of Computer Science in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Mihail’s research focuses on theoretical computer science, as well as networking and large data applications. Her theory work has focused on randomized algorithms, in particular the Monte Carlo Markov chain method for sampling, approximation algorithms and spectral graph theory. Her work on networking and large scale data focuses on formal models and algorithms. Mihail received her doctorate from Harvard University in 1989. Prior to joining the Georgia Tech faculty, she was a senior research scientist and manager at Bell Communications Research, and an adjunct professor at Columbia University. Mihail is affiliated with the Algorithms & Randomness Center (ARC) and the Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization program at Georgia Tech.
