There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Michael Helms is a Research Scientist in the Center for Education (CEISMC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Helms is currently working on modeling school interventions as complex social systems. His background is in cognitive science, design theory, education research, technology consulting and financial services. He earned a doctorate in computer science from Georgia Tech in 2013, and recently completed the National Science Foundation's entrepreneurial I-CORPS program as an entrepreneurial lead focused on customer discovery and business model development. Prior to his doctorate, Helms worked as a consultant building business cases for the development of large data infrastructure projects. In conjunction with the Center for Biologically Inspired Design, he also provides design consulting services focused on product innovation by leveraging insight gleaned from 3.8 billion years of evolution.
