Ashok Goel is a professor of Computer Science and Cognitive Science in the School of Interactive Computing in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is the director of the school's doctoral program in human-centered computing and of the Design & Intelligence Laboratory. He is also a co-director of the Institute’s Center for Biologically Inspired Design, a Fellow of the Brooke Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems, and the president of the Board of Directors of The Biomimicry Institute. Ashok conducts research into artificial intelligence, cognitive science and human-centered computing, with a focus on computational design and creativity. He is the associate editor of AAAI’s AI Magazine, IEEE’s Intelligent Systems, and Design Research Society’s DesignScience Journal. His 2012 TEDx talk summarizes some of his research on computational creativity in biologically inspired design.
