Keith Edwards is closing the gap between humans and computers. He is a professor for the School of  Interactive Computing in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology and director of the GVU Center. His research investigates the various aspects of computing infrastructure that can enable new types of human experiences and, conversely, sheds light on the social impacts of computing on people. His research includes new technological systems to empower nonprofits, networking infrastructures to better support domestic use, and exploring more usable and useful approaches to computer security. Most recently, he has begun to explore the role that technology can play in building stronger communities with increased civic engagement. Outside of Georgia Tech, Edwards serves on Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing Academic Advisory Board and previously served as the Technical Program Chair for CHI 2010 in Atlanta, alongside Tom Rodden. He is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and a member of the CHI Academy.
