What is the purpose?
The Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute (ACTSI), led by Emory University with partners Morehouse School of Medicine and Georgia Institute of Technology, and Georgia Bio, the state's life sciences industry association, organizes this conference annually to provide critical information on how academia and industry can work together to translate science into discovery and engage communities in clinical research efforts and outcomes. The event provides a collaborative environment for university investigators and industry executives using a program filled with subject matter experts describing current models and innovative trends shaping the future of translational science.
What will be discussed?
The Seventh Annual Academic & Industry Intersection Conference will explore Georgia’s biotechnology climate, venture capital innovation, and feature an expert panel highlighting commercialization training options throughout the state.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
C. Michael Cassidy, President & CEO, Georgia Research Alliance (GRA)
Cassidy will provide a local state-of-affairs on Georgia’s biotechnology past, present, and future to begin open dialogue and motivate change. As the leader of GRA for 16 years, he will deliver clear insight on the state’s journey as a biotechnology capital. While sharing his vision for the state, celebrating our strengths, and defining our weaknesses. His experience and understanding of city and state politics will resonate and enlighten the expert audience.
Kenneth I. Moch, Managing Partner, Salutramed Group
Moch will offer a regional and national perspective and discuss the current and future biotechnology climate. He will share best practices and advice for Georgia to become a biotechnology capital using his broad expertise building, managing, and financing private and public life sciences companies from start-up through commercialization, and creation of five companies which have pioneered novel technologies.
