Contributions for this year's Georgia Tech Charitable Campaign are roughly $100,000 short of the Institute's goal. However, because of a surge of donations received in the last week, organizers are extending the campaign.
"We have made some good progress in the last couple of weeks," said campaign co-chair Ralph Mobley. "The Tech community has donated roughly $112,000 in that time, for a total of $225,000."
Mobley said that the campaign will continue through next week, adding that people will be able to donate through TechWorks until Friday, Dec. 11.
Each year, Georgia Tech participates in the statewide Charitable Contributions Program. For the last two years, Tech has won the Governor's Cup, signifying the highest donation per capita for an organization of its size. Last year, Tech faculty and staff donated more than $312,000 to the 1,200 organizations assisted by the campaign.
