If you’re staying on campus or around the Atlanta area, there are plenty of things to do to keep busy over the holiday break.

Things To Do on Campus

  • Thanksgiving Dinner: The Georgia Tech Catholic Center will host Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. People of all faiths are welcome and those interested can register here.
  • Georgia Tech vs. University of Georgia Football Game: The annual rivalry game will take place in Bobby Dodd Stadium on Nov. 28 at noon. Come out and cheer on the Yellow Jackets at their last home game of the year.

Attend Holiday Events in the City

  • Atlanta Botanical Garden – Garden Lights: Walk through the Atlanta Botanical Garden at night to enjoy its annual light show. Garden Lights will run through Jan. 9, and tickets can be purchased online.
  • Centennial Olympic Park Holiday in Lights: Free and open to the public, the Holiday in Lights display runs through January 2 in and around Centennial Olympic Park.
  • Ice Skating: Two ice rinks just a few miles from Tech — at Centennial Olympic Park and Atlantic Station — offer student discounts, so check prices online before you go and be sure to take your BuzzCard.
  • Holiday Spectacular at Ponce City Market: On Nov. 28 from 3 to 8 p.m., visit Ponce City Market and enjoy holiday music, arts and crafts, and other seasonal festivities. The inaugural lighting of the tower will take place at 7 p.m.

Enjoy the Outdoors

If you’re looking to get off campus and enjoy the fall weather, check out some of the hiking trails and parks in the Atlanta area. Popular trails located less than an hour’s drive from campus include Kennesaw Mountain, Sweetwater Creek, Stone Mountain, and Red Top Mountain.
