The Honeywell Nobel Interactive Studio will follow Sir Harry Kroto's lecture and visits with students on Georgia Tech's campus through Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, YouTube and Flickr.
Sir Harold "Harry" Kroto, recipient of the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, presents "Science, Society and Sustainability," which highlights how the present day is shaped by science, engineering and technology.
The featured speaker for the Honeywell-Nobel Laureate Lecture Series at Georgia Tech, Kroto also will discuss the value of the Internet and how this communications technology can be used to educate the world on using rational attitudes in decision-making.
Kroto, along with Robert Curl and Richard Smalley, are credited with discovering in 1985 that carbon atoms can assemble into cages of molecules, known as fullerenes or buckyballs. Knighted in 1996, he was elected a fellow of The Royal Society in 1990, and in 1995 he launched the Vega Science Trust to create high-quality science films for broadast.
In 2007 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences and he started the GEOSET (Global Education Outreach in Science, Engineering and Technololgy) educational initiative at Florida State University.
A Webcast of the event will be available at www.honeywellscience.com.
